While prodding around on good old Regresty they had a posting of an artist by the name of Jessica Harrison and she does some pretty kick-ass miniature and figurine artwork. Below is a sample.
Like seriously what the hell is up with that? Way to take tradition and basically fuck it up as you see fit to make a statement. The above image is part of her 2010 work which is focusing around these macabre figurines, but this isn’t her first work that’s a step into the grotesque. She also has a series of miniature furniture that appears to be made from human flesh, another set of furniture that has a tongue sprouting from it somewhere as well.
What caught my eye about this was that I had thought I had seen the figurine work years ago at the Power Plant Gallery in Toronto, but that exhibit was of another artist by the name of Shary Boyle who has a bit of head start on this genera of artwork. Either way, both artists are doing fantastic work with the medium and the subject at hand.
But if you’re living in jolly old England, I would say take the time and effort to seek out a Jessica Harrison exhibit and see this unique art up close and personal.
