Well since the future seems to be HTML5, php, MySQL and what not, I’ve been working on becoming hip and trendy in the interwebs instead of using the hard labour of others. That and I’m probably going to have to learn this shit to get a decent job in the future since nearly everyone one and their mum now requires web as being part of a graphic designer as if that wasn’t enough shit on your plate already. Seriously what’s with that? Graphic designers make for half-assed web coders like web codes make 2/3rds-assed graphic designers.
Anyways, so what I did was some haxxoring on my own home PC and have a good virtual web server running. (You can connect to it at 127.0.0.1, but please don’t haxxorz it). What this has allowed me do to (after like 8 hours, 3 different server programs, and one stupid little error) is install the very word press I use online into an offline environment. And since it’s unshackled from the constraints that wordpress has being a free service and all, I get to go hog-wild redoing CSS style sheets and layouts unconstrained.
So what does this mean for DUAG? It means I become more familiar with how wordpress operates in a completely open environment unconstrained this adding to my overall experience in working with the software. Neato! I’ll be a wordpress master by the end. However I would not expect much in the way of tangible fruits. I cannot see myself coding widgets, plugins or even complex CSS style sheets, but I hope to get an idea of how and why this shit works the way it does.
Then maybe I’ll get my old and cherished job back… just maybe.
