Back again this week for another fine collection of videos for you all to enjoy in. Bit of random assortment this week since I was having a hard time finding videos to some of the songs I was thinking of. In the end however, it’s all right and here they are.
The Go! Team – Doing It Right
Now as far as I know, prior to 2008 this was a very unknown band basically since I had never heard of them until 2008. So what happened that year? Just a little game called LITTLE BIG PLANET. They got their song ‘Get it Together’ chosen as the lead trailer music for the game and well, it’s both perfect and stuck. The two don’t exist well without the context of being together. This was one of the few official music videos I could find and it’s not bad at all. Cheesy and kitschy yes, but given the music that The Go! Team does, it’s perfect.
Esthero – That Girl
I have a bit of a soft spot for this one. First I really like the song. It just has that sound that I really like and it turns out to be one of those musical perfect storms for me. Second, this was filmed not far from where I live now. Yeah I have a soft spot for where I live. Toronto’s been changing a lot in the past decade and it’s nice to see these little videos of the past. And I mean, the video has a good narrative as well, however first/third person that’s going on with the song lyrics. Fun Fact! The white chair bubble girl is sitting on is getting back in vogue or something since it’s like being used for someone’s design advertisements recently.
Björk – Hidden Place
Ah yes another Björk video. No robots making out however. If you get a chance, read the hilarious youtube commentary that’s been going on. For the lazy, apparently a lot or just enough people have been comparing Björk to Lady Gaga and it’s starting to generate a lot of lulz. Why? Because it’s a retarded comparison. You could argue that they’re both very chiq, expressive and excentric artists and people, but one person’s making dance music and one lead a very successful career inspiring design for generations. See the difference? Yeah Ga-ga does some crazy shit, but that’s primarily for getting attention. Björk managed to evolve her self with the help of some of the most creative directors and designers, not by changing her hair and wearing a Kermit the frog jacket or spewing blood. The big difference between the two is a little thing called subtlety.
Foo Fighters – Walking after you
This is another song off the same album (The Color and the Shape) as Everlong. I wrote about this song in length in my Album of Influence posting so I don’t really think I can add much more. So just enjoy.
