Yeah I bet you all figured I’d do another theme or something for valentine’s day. WELL WRONG! I’ll do what I want and I want to do the following. So please once again, enjoy what I’ve found this week for ya.
Boom Boom Satellites – Kick it out
I had originally found a remix for this video (see it here), but since I didn’t like the remix I never put it up and forever feared that the Boom Boom Satellites were so unpopular they didn’t get to make music videos. Well I was wrong and as you can clearly see and all the better for it. While Kick it Out isn’t the one of the songs I like best, the video caught my eye. It has sort of that 7 Nation Army vibe that the White Stripes did long ago, and the bands do sort of have similarities (duo of guitar and drums), however I don’t like this video too much because it becomes both predictable and silly (the dancing chick), but I do like the lyrics flying out and all over the place. My graphic designer side likes that part a lot. If I can find a good video for Shut up and Explode, it’s going up here next time.
Ratatat – MIRANDO
I know I found this months back while looking for other Ratatat music videos which are few and far between, but I’m ashamed that I didn’t save this one for another time (or I did and totally forgot). This is nothing but a clip show, but it’s ACTION PACKED. See explosions and shooting and then in reverse/fast forward! This is totally a man’s man of music videos. This video excretes testosterone every second that it’s playing. Even the music is boosted 200% moar by the inclusion of all the explosions and guns.
Peter Gabriel – Solsbury Hill
Sort of been stuck in my head for a while. It’s just one of those songs that’s forever going to be on some classic rock or soft rock radio stations. Growing up I was exposed to a lot of Peter Gabriel / Genesis since my father absolutely loves his music. As a kid, I just liked hearing Sledge Hammer because what child doesn’t love a sledge-hammer? Also this is one bizarre music video for ’77. Hell, there is another version of this video and I just went with the nicest of the two.
Diamond Rings – Show Me Your Stuff
Talk about a modern throwback to the 80s. It seems my generation is again making a mad dash back to the days of lame. I guess they want to ignore the really lame stuff about the 80s and throw themselves at all the glitter and glam. I would say Diamond Rings is exactly what everyone wants the 80s to have been like. Personally I think we’re all better off living in the future rather than the past, but at least this video was totally able to nail an 80s pop music video. Aside from the clean clear quality, you would never know this was made in the modern day (possible clothing aside).
Samwell – What What (in the Butt)
Sully, I lied.
That’s all folks. Maybe these slick videos will nab you a lady or a gent for the weekend and if you’re really good, you’ll keep them past Monday. Adieu until next week.
