Some time in the last week I was chatting with some friends about streaming videos online and such. People in the last 5-ish years have been treating it as the shit ever since the invention of Youtube, but in clear old school style I’ve been doing this sort of thing for years. Streaming video was really only for the DSL/ Cable users so it took people a long time to really catch on and the lack of YouTube prior to 2005 and Google still in an infancy phase left large gaps few and far between for streaming media.
So what gate way was I able to use for streaming? Honestly I don’t remember 100%, but one site that stands out in my memory is Sputnik 7, which I’m very glad to see still exists. More so I’m glad they’ve keep doing what they’ve always done and smoothly transitioned into the web 2.0 world.
When I was a young lad Sputnik 7 was the place to check out all the cool ass shit that was happening on the web. I also used it to watch Anime which they had an abundance of. Hell, they even were the first to have Ken Ishii’s music Video for his song Extra which was directed by the animation director for Akira (Koji Morimoto). It seems those Halcyon days of old have passed, but what’s there now is still great and full of little indie gems. I am sad I can no longer stream Armored Trooper VOTOMS and other various animes they had, but I’m an adult now and I can find them else where.
If you have an itch for something undiscovered and original, I suggest you look towards Sputnik 7 and discover something new. And they have a facebook page you can link up to as well.
Sputnik 7 does seem to have some cool shit. That Enigma feature was bomb.
